These Halls Have Many Faces...
_Lith is an exploration of algorithmic generation - a marriage of programmatic ambient composition and procedural environment generation. From a technical standpoint, _Lith represents a culmination of many years of work on different projects exploring the unique audio-visual composition and performance possibilities that are afforded by game development technology.
_Lith takes the form of a journey through a mysterious and ever-changing brutalist structure. Cryptic narrative interjections serve to hint at a lost mythos surrounding the pantheon of abstract entities that inhabit the deepest chambers of the structure.
Each visit is unique: the sights, sounds and layout will never be the same twice.
Conceptually, _Lith explores the self in the face of cosmic insignificance. Its conceptual impetus originates from a series of fever dreams.


Live Performance
Currently, _Lith is designed as a private piece of software used for live audio-visual performances. You can see its debut live performance here - unfortunately video quality is not ideal, but the audio recording is as intended. A short in-engine video can be seen here.
Generative techniques have several benefits when applied to live performance. Their mutable nature means that no one performance will be the same. Their flexibility can cater to specific events or appearances with features like variable duration or even custom content.
Plans are underway to open _Lith to the public for their own exploration.
